I play bottleneck slide on resonator guitars.
My guitars are my dearest collaborators. My 1930s dobros and my Nationals (1936 Style N; M-1 based on 1927 Style 1) open sound doors, so I can hear things that I wouldn't, otherwise. I love to hear what these tremendously responsive guitars do especially when improvising, playing bottleneck slide in open tunings.
I play instrumentals & songs with words: jazz, son montuno, festejo, zydeco, American standards, blues, and more. I sing in Spanish, English, French, Gaelic, German, Italian, Brazilian Portuguese, Russian, Tagalog, and Ukrainian.
I’ve performed at festivals, clubs, and radio shows in the Midwest and Northeast. I’m honored to have joined forces with many talented, gifted people – songwriters who trust me to interpret their work, vocalists gently jostling me into place, instrumentalists welcoming me to build alongside them, poets and dancers who inspire with every nuance and movement.
